Agojie Training Camp
This camp focuses on womanhood development in African American girls between ages 12 and 14.
This is a collaborative effort between EdAnime Productions and the Urban Youth Initiative Project
About Agojie Training Camp
The camp is a week-long cultural enrichment, character refinement, and womanhood development experience. The objective of the camp is to cultivate warrior-sisterhood.
Warrior-sisterhood signifies disciplined, healthy bonds, purposeful, informed, and centered women (in this context young girls). We will cultivate discipline within and teach structure and order to our Agojie in training. The 4 C’s culture, character development, critical thinking, and care will be the foundation and at the center of Agojie Training Camp (ATC).
WE ARE AGOJIE
Core Areas of Focus
Character Development
We teach the importance of good character through upholding the virtues of MA’AT. MA’AT represents truth, order, balance, harmony, justice, reciprocity and propriety. We help the girls understand that operating with good character is a significant part of becoming a woman.
Critical Thinking
Empowering young girls with critical thinking skills is essential for their personal and academic growth. Our program aims to cultivate analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making processes. Through engaging activities and thought-provoking challenges, girls will develop the confidence to question, evaluate, and form well-reasoned opinions. Join us in equipping girls with the tools they need to navigate an increasingly complex world with intelligence and discernment.
Life Skills Training
Our life skills program for girls is designed to equip them with essential tools for success and resilience. From communication and interpersonal skills to time management and self-care practices, participants will gain valuable cultural knowledge and practical strategies to navigate life’s challenges confidently. As well as learn the “art of living” with engaging activities to include cooking, baking, sewing, health, and hygiene.
Self-Defense
We teach self-defense to enable our girls to defend themselves, their families, and their communities. In studying self-defense our girls learn self-discipline and emotional intelligence.
